Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultation
In Ayurveda the concept of the three humours (Tri Doshas) has a vital role, because when they are out of balance diseases grow in body and mind. When we are born we have an original constitution (Prakrti), it means that the doshas are in a certain ratio. Every person has a different ratio, this is what makes us different. According to the lifestyle that we have in our lives, the doshas can keep that equilibrium or can break it.
When we talk about the ratio of the doshas in the present moment, we refer to them as our actual constitution (Vikrti). If the Vikrti has the same ratio than our Prakrti, then we are completely healthy.
To determine both Prakrti and Vikrti, Ayurveda takes in consideration the whole body and mind when we were children and in the present moment. We can say that an Ayurvedic consultation is like a trip to the past, we try to remember how was our body at that time, how we behaved, how was our digestion and what experiences were engraved in our history. On the other hand, we also focus on the present and see the complaints that we may have. Then the treatments for these diseases vary according to our Prakrti and Vikrti, even if it is the same disease two people may have a different treatment, this is because Ayurveda treats the imbalance of doshas instead of diseases.

The Treatment
We can divide the Ayurvedic treatment in diet, lifestyle, therapies and medicines. The diet is a very important factor in our life, depending on what we eat is how our body is, if we do not provide the adequate materials to our body, then it can not build all the necessary tissues nor to do the necessary bodily functions. Lifestyle is how we behave with the outside world, if we are exposed to heat or cold, rain, wind, what we see, if we watch television, or we observe the nature, what we do, if we are under stress or we are able to relax, all these factors have different effects on ourselves, and not only on our bodies, but also on our mind. Therapies are the treatments used to cure a certain disease. Ayurveda uses mainly therapies of anointing and giving heat to nourish the body. Finally medicines exist in several forms such as oils for internal or external use, infusions, tablets among others. These medicines are all free from artificial chemicals for the reason that they traditionally are all made out of plants.
Ayurveda is a complete medicine by itself. However it is important to know that in all the countries outside India, it is considered a complementary medicine. What means that it is used to support the modern medicine or to treat minor diseases or conditions. Therefore, it is recommended to consult your doctor's opinion if you are undergoing an ayurvedic treatment.
